Overview

Context:

At Accenture, we have multiple teams under the umbrella of Security & Identity. One of the responsibilities of our team was gathering, calculating and presenting experience metrics and scores for each of those teams, which were tracked and calculated manually. This data is then updated into a Microsoft Power BI dashboard and shared across the teams for various purposes, such as performance analysis, trend identification, and strategic planning.

My Role:

Conducting thorough user research and translating the findings into an intuitive design. My responsibilities extended to prototyping, user testing, and collaborating closely with the development team for the final implementation.

What was the problem?

• The main challenge was the manual nature of the process. The team used to spend an average of 20+ hours per dashboard which included gathering all the data, cleaning, filtering, calculating and then refreshing the Power BI dashboard for each dashboard and there were around 30+ dashboards. It was labour-intensive and time-consuming, leading to delays in data availability and increased chances for human errors.
• The existing system didn't allow teams to filter data according to their specific needs. This posed additional difficulties in extracting meaningful insights from the dashboard and added complexity when sharing and downloading reports. The team also scheduled weekly meetings with each team to discuss the insights from the report.

Outcome

The need was identified for a user-friendly, automated solution that could provide real-time data visibility, facilitate data filtering based on individual team requirements, and streamline the process of report sharing and downloading.

Introducing InDEXer, an integrated dashboard application. After implementing it, the time spent on building each dashboard dropped to an average of 10 minutes, boosting our overall operational efficiency by 99.17% 🤯.

Previously, we had multiple dashboards that required us to gather, clean, and calculate data in Excel manually. Each dashboard had to be manually refreshed. However, now all of these tasks are performed automatically in the Indexer app.
